BLAY – MONA LISA – MUSIC VIDEO
During these past years of isolation people drifted apart and a once abstract concept; panic attack, became a kind of normal. Many isolated themselves from the outside world and became imprisoned, insecure and anxious of what tomorrow might bring. OTAKUS’s latest music video production with the popular Swiss band Blay puts a spotlight on this topic.
Our modern day Mona Lisa suffers with anxiety. She is trapped in her own head and immobilized by intense fear. This feeling of being in danger and being constantly frightened triggers a physical reaction. She feels out of control, believes that she is having a heart attack and is going to die. But then through the music, Marc Sway and Bligg support the story as her sub conscience and help her to gain strength and courage during this hardship.
Slowly she gathers herself and finally the door to a new chapter is opened. We found an old night club in Winterthur, Switzerland, that supported our story perfectly. Carried a beautiful super heavy bathtub all the way from Zurich and filled it with hot water in the middle of the nightclub. Hired a huge wind machine and drove to Basel, an hour away to buy movie snow that we never even really used. Hired old Russian vintage lenses and gave everything during the shoot.
The thing is, music videos are just fun to work on and full of creativity. Those two days on set were pure joy and a reminder of the good old days of guerilla filmmaking and…… before isolation.
