About Project
THE PROJECT
Leaving a legacy, what does this actually mean?
Snowboard legend – Xavier de Le Rue is a real-life example of one living his dream. When it comes to Snowboarding there are only a handful of guys that manage this level of achievement. He dominated the freeriding scene for the better part of a decade gaining huge recognition in this field, and expedition films.
After 22 years of professional snowboarding Xavier decided to shift his focus, passing his knowledge to a new generation of shredders. A Lifetime of pioneering first traces and a near death experience gained him enormous respect amongst athletes from all disciplines.
With OTAKUS newest film production for the Audi’s Impetus Series we got the chance to portray this incredible athlete and share his inspiring view on life. Xavier and his 15year young daughter Mila welcomed us into their Swiss Alp home in Verbier, where our film crew got treated like one of the family. One could barely move or you were offered a beer or a warm plate of food. A family that operates on human connection and a humble outlook. Now, combining their contagious personalities with a beautiful Audi E-Tron Sportback, on location in the picture perfect Verbier, we knew….. we were onto something special.
The question arose amongst the crew. Do we focus sufficiently on fixing our mistakes before they get repeated by our sons and daughters? If everything should stop tomorrow, what would be the mark we left behind for the next generation to admire?
We should always strive to build our legacy and inspire the next generation, all the while doing it in humility.
